An MRI Monday morning confirmed Dirk Nowitzki sustained a moderate high left ankle sprain and mild left knee sprain. He is currently walking in a protective boot without crutches.
The team did not put a timetable on his return. Owner Mark Cuban indicated at least two weeks after Sunday's loss to the Spurs. Considering the degree of the injury and the team not attaching a possible return date, I'd be inclinded to take the over on that situation.
The Mavs have 12 games remaining starting Tuesday at home against the Clippers. Then it's a danger zone at Denver and Golden State, followed by a home meeting against the Warriors. The Mavs, in the seventh spot, are one-half game ahead of the eighth-seed Warriors and two games ahead of the ninth-place Nuggets.
