Maybe if the Mavericks were in Los Angeles right now preparing to face the Lakers, Avery Johnson would have picked Kobe Bryant as his MVP. But the Mavs are in New Orleans and there sure isn't anything wrong with choosing Chris Paul for MVP. He might still win the thing and if he doesn't he'll be second to Kobe.
"I think he's had as strong a year as anybody," Johnson said Friday of the New Orleans point guard. "After what I've been seeing all year, he definitely would get my vote. He's been awfully good. That team won 56 games in a tough Western Conference. And not only was he having a MVP season, it's good to take somebody along for the ride and he took David West along for the ride."
