At 5 p.m. today at Victory Plaza at the south end of the American Airlines Center, get this lineup of sports luminaries: NBA commissioner David Stern, Mavs owner Mark Cuban and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. You know this has got to be big. And it is.
The power trio will join together to announce that the Mavs will host the 2010 All-Star Weekend with the All-Star Game being played at the yet-unnamed new Cowboys stadium in Arlington. The dunk contest and 3-point shootout and all that Saturday night stuff will be at the AAC with the Fan Jam I'm guessing at the Dallas Convention Center.
Pretty cool stuff. And really, props to Cuban for holding out on the All-Star Game until he got a place big enough so his loyal season-ticket holders could get tickets instead of being shoved out which is what happens in every other arena because the NBA eats up nearly all the tickets.
