The Mavs get back to work Monday after getting Sunday off. It's the final practice of training camp before the preseason starts Tuesday at home against Washington.
The coaching change and subsequent change in offense should make for an interesting preseason. Rick Carlisle might want to play his regulars more than he normally would in order to achieve some rhythm and chemistry over the next three-plus weeks.
Plus he's got to figure out how Antoine Wright, who's garnered praise so far, Gerald Green and James Singleton might fit in.
It's been a long time since the Mavs could say that the preseason matters. Wins, obviously, won't be how Carlisle judges his team, but how the players grasp and execute the new up-tempo, motion offense will be key.
