After the Mavs' shootaround about an hour ago, coach Rick Carlisle played it coy regarding Keith McLeod's roster situation. As you might have been following, McLeod has not played in a preseason game because of a right hamstring injury. As much as the Mavs might have liked him to show what he can do to shore up the backup point guard spot, the Mavs have just announced that they have waived him.
So, unless a point guard is cut by another team that the Mavs deem a good fit, the Mavs will head into next week's opener with Jason Kidd, Jason Terry and J.J. Barea handling the basketball.
The move reduces the Mavs' roster to 14 players, leaving one spot available.
