So far Rick Carlisle has shown a knack for giving blunt, straight-faced answers or answering with a rather self-depricating sense of humor.
He was talking about how Brandon Bass will play the 4 and 5 and how those positions in this new up-tempo offense present two totally different sets of responsibilities and challenges.
When asked if he's taken a page from anyone's playbook in devising his offensive approach , Carlisle shrugged and said, "Making it up as we go along." He then added, "It's kind of a combination of a few things that teams have done over the last few years that I feel fits what we need to do offensively."
Carlisle said that much of what he's implementing is new to him.
"We're doing something that's different than I've ever done," Carlisle said. "...There are some different dynamics to what (the players') probably normal responsibilities have been, so they're learning about that and so are the coaches."
