J.J. Barea is set to make his first start of the season at shooting guard, playing alongside Jason Kidd. He's earned the start with his recent play. It looks like Josh Howard will sit out his seventh consecutive game with a sprained left ankle. Devean George will start at small forward.
"He's a playmaker," Howard said of Barea in the locker room.
Rick Carlisle informed Barea of the start this morning. When asked about it in the locker room prior to the game, Barea gave a big smile and said he felt "great."
