Mark Cuban has read the reports of the Mavericks shopping Josh Howard, but he said before the Mavericks-Bucks game tonight that the reports are inaccurate.
"You can quote me on this," Cuban said. "I'm not trading Josh Howard."
Cuban has always left himself an out, saying he would even consider trading Dirk Nowtizki if Kobe Bryant and LeBron James came back to Dallas in a package. So you have to think that if someone offered an established All-Star, he might change his mind.
But he dismissed rumors of a possible deal sending Howard to Miami for Shawn Marion. He said Howard is a better defensive player than Marion and even has a better all-around game.
The Mavericks have listened to offers for Howard but because of the controversies he was involved in during the off-season and also because he has nagging ankle and wrist injuries, the offers have been modest. As Cuban said a few days ago: "When teams call about players, they all want bargains. We don't give bargains, we try to get bargains.
