The best thing about the Nets-Mavericks game tonight is that it is their second and last meeting of the year and it will ideally be the last time we talk about the two point guards. It is my goal in writing an online column for tonight to not use either one of the point guards names because enough is enough -- at least until next year.
But for an update, the young guy with the Nets is not giving us an encore -- yet. He had 41 points in a December game in NJ and torched the entire Dallas team. But he has missed his first five field goal attempts and has only four free throws with under six minutes left in the first half.
Meanwhile the old guy hit his first three 3-point shots and has 12 points already and that's more than he's had in 40 games this season. That is correct. He's scored more than 12 points only 12 times, and we have a full half to go.
The Nets, however, are hanging in and are actually leading by two.
