Just reading about the H-O-R-S-E competition for this weekend's All-Star festivities... the latest news is the three competitors have been chosen: Oklahoma forward Kevin Durant, Memphis guard O.J. Mayo and Atlanta Hawks guard Joe Johnson.
Now let's talk about this, shall we? No offense to the longstanding slam dunk contest, it still has enough to draw some oohs and aahs, but we've seen it for years. We needed a little spark, a little something different. So enter a little H-O-R-S-E, where we can see some fun, some tricks, some nifty shots sans dunks.
As far as basketball goes, I am one heck of a tennis player. But we can all relate to H-O-R-S-E, can't we? We've all played a game or two with friends, relatives, either gained some bragging rights or wanted to hide for all eternity. I remember one spirited game with friends about 10 years ago on a shoddy little backyard court. I took the winning shot standing on a pile of 4X4s. Proudest basketball moment of my nonexistent career.
So share with me, kids... do you have your own H-O-R-S-E memories, and what do you think of the NBA going there?
