OK, so here we are in fantasyland and you have the unique opportunity to buy an NBA team for $1.
But not just any NBA team, only one of two teams. And you have to choose between the Mavericks and the Oklahoma City Thunder, which the Mavericks will play twice in the next three games after tonight's visit from Milwaukee.
Think about it. You can have the Mavericks, probably make the playoffs this year and next and maybe have a chance to get Dwyane Wade or Chris Bosh in 2010. Then again, you might be a 30-win team if you miss out on the free-agent bonanza.
Or, you can be the Thunder and have Kevin Durant, Jeff Green and Russell Westbrook, plus a shot at Blake Griffin this summer, forming a nucleus that is barely out of diapers and has every other GM in the league drooling. You will be the new Portland.
But you'll have to be in the lottery and have trouble selling tickets for probably the next two years.
Plus, you'd have to live in Oklahoma City.
It's your choice, but I would caution you to look closely at all the angles.
