Josh Howard out at least two games

Josh Howard will miss the team's next two games.

Howard and trainer Casey Smith remained in Dallas to consult with a specialist Monday afternoon while the team flew to Phoenix. Once that meeting was over, the club issued an injury update that said Howard will miss games against the Suns and Portland Trail Blazers to have more specialized tests conducted on his ankle.

Tuesday's game in Phoenix marks the start of a crucial, four-game road trip for the Mavericks. The team plays in Portland Wednesday, faces Golden State on Friday then concludes the trip Sunday afternoon against the LA Lakers.
