Maybe this is good news

Phoenix has signed Stromile Swift, who has gone through some tough times of late. His mother died in January and he's been understanably uninterested in basketball.

But even when properly motivated, Swift has been a non-factor on just about every team he's ever been on. The guess here is that this signing won't impact the Suns one bit. And it certainly won't help them defensively, where they need it the most.

The Mavericks have a full two-game lead on the Suns in that epic battle for the eighth playoff spot.
