OKLAHOMA CITY -- I don't want to go so far as to say that the state of Oklahoma is as rabid about its football as say, Dallas and Fort Worth are about the Cowboys. But if the developments of Monday are any indication, the separation might not be that great.
The Oklahoma State Senate declared Monday as Sam Bradford Day, hearing two motions, one to commemmorate his Heisman Trophy award and the other to thank him for returning to OU for one more season.
No comment yet from Oklahoma State alumni members of the Senate.
Anyway, in basketball news, the Thunder waived Joe Smith just before the deadline for when he could be playoff-eligible for another team. The Mavericks, as we mentioned last week, have been keeping tabs on available talent on the waiver/buyout wire. They have talked to representatives of Smith, and Drew Gooden, who was bought out by Sacramento.
It appears other teams are well ahead of the Mavericks in the pecking order for those players, which might not be a bad thing.
If you like what you've seen from James Singleton lately, do you really want to stunt that growth?
