Gregg Popovich had this note of caution before the game. He said that if the Spurs played a little differently against Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry, things could get even worse.
Guess what?
They're worse.
Nowitzki has three quick baskets, including his first 3-pointer of the series, as the Mavericks have gone ahead 9-4.
That's why he's hesitant to alter his basic defense on Dirk.
"The question you ask yourself is if you turn Dirk and Terry loose, it might be worse,'' Popovich said. "So that's what you have to judge. Our changes have been toward the other players. We've opted to do that rather than let those guys loose.''
