Roddy Beaubois (BO-bwah) breezed through town today and he's pumped about being in Dallas, especially because it means he's not in Oklahoma City, which drafted him 25th.
The French point guard admitted he was happy when he found out he was really going to Dallas.
He's also stoked about getting to learn the point from Jason Kidd, assuming the Mavericks are able to sign him next month when free agency gets rolling.
"Jason Kidd is one of the best point guards to play the game,'' Beaubois said. "I think I can learn some things from him.''
The 6-2 Beaubois also has a closeness to fellow Frenchman Mickael Pietrus, who is credited for discovering the 21-year-old Beaubois at a camp on Guadalupe, a French West Indies island where both of them grew up.
"I met him at his camp and we have the same agent now,'' Beaubois said. "We talk a lot.''
If Beaubois ends up playing as well as Pietrus, the Mavericks will be very happy with their 2009 draft.
