The Orlando Magic have indeed notified Marcin Gortat of its intent to match the offer sheet he signed with Dallas last week for $34 million over five years, according to Gortat's agent Guy Zucker. Zucker said he received word from the Magic about two hours ago. Gortat, who is in his native Poland, is "very, very disappointed," Zucker said. The Mavs, certainly are, too. Zucker said he had been on the phone with "everyone" from Dallas since receiving the word and they had expressed disappointment. The Mavs lost forward Brandon Brass to the Magic last week, putting the Mavericks in shaky position in the post with few quality big men available. The Magic had until Wednesday to make a move on Gortat or let him go. Gortat wanted to play in Dallas where he had a chance to be a starter and would certainly get more minutes than he does in Orlando, backing up Dwight Howard. "They had a tremendous amount of confidence in Marcin," Zucker said of the Mavs.

I can't believe they would do this to him and I am a huge Mavs fan in Dallas. This is bad basketball karma POS magic!

Brandon, get a clue! This goes with the territory of Gortat being an RFA. He gets $34 mil to ride Superman's cape. That's a ton of cash!
Mave took a chance and lost on this one. Again, that can/does happen with restricted free agents.

ALL CREDIT DUE TO OTIS FOR ALLOWING DALLAS TO OFFER GORTAT A CONTRACT BUT IT WAS IN THE PROGRAM . LUCKILY ANOTHER TEAM DIDN'Y OFFER A BIGGER CONTRACT BECAUSE THEN WE WOULD SURELY HAVE TO LET HIM ( GORTAT ) GO . DALLAS DIDN'T OFFER A BIG ENUFF KITTY SO ORALNDO COULDN'T MATCH IT .. IN OTIS WE TRUST (( WOW IS HE SO CUNNING )) GOOD JOB OTIS ... NOW LET'S SWINDLE ANOTHER TEAM SO WE CAN LOAD UP OUR BENCH ...

the mavs need alot more than a backup center...they are at best a fifth seed in the west...too old and dirk is a soft player...the magic have a much better shot at the title for the next 3/4 years....good luck mav fans..at least cuban is funny

All the Magic fans think everything is fine and dandy now, but I don't think Marcin is gonna be too happy. He feels like he has proved that he is better than a backup and his feelings aren't changed now that he's making more money.
