With signings and trades OK to start at midnight, the league just announced the salary cap and other pertinent numbers for the 2009-10 season.
The most important thing is that the mid-level exception is going to be $5.854 million.
That means a team like the Mavericks signing a free-agent like Marcin Gortat to the MLE and giving the maximum 8 percent raise each season ($468,320) will be on the hook for $33,953,200.
It breaks down like this: $5,854,000 for the upcoming season, then $6,322,320 for 2010-11, $6,790,640 for 2011-12, $7,258,960 for 2012-13 and $7,727,280 for 2013-14.
The salary cap went down slightly from last season to $57.7 million.
The luxury tax also went down, to $69.92 million.
