Just got a tip that one of the unresolved issues in the Mavericks' talks with Toronto about Shawn Marion is that the Raptors apparently want the Mavericks to take back Marcus Banks, as well.
That's all well and good. Banks is a functional point guard. But, he's also set to make more than $9 million in the next two seasons. That would clog up a lot of salary cap space for the Mavericks, both this year and next.
Plus, that would mean either Marion would have to take somewhat less than the $7 million that Jerry Stackhouse's contract is worth and/or the Mavericks would have to include another player. Think Shawne Williams.
Anyway, it appears the Mavericks will still have to find a third team to help facilitate this trade because taking on more salary just doesn't make much sense.
