It's interesting how things work in the NBA. For instance, Shawn Marion will forever be known as a first-round draft pick of the Phoenix Suns in 1999.
And it's true, the Suns did use the ninth overall pick on Marion, which proved to be a great choice. The forward out of UNLV provided great dividends for the Suns.
Probably not many people remember that it was actually the Mavericks' draft pick that the Suns used to get Marion.
The Mavs sent the No. 9 overall selection in that draft to the Suns for Steve Nash, shipping some spare parts with the draft pick.
And now, 10 years later, Marion is finally a Maverick.
Better late than never, as they say.
