This time, the refs got it right.
They quickly called a flagrant foul--penalty 2 when J.R. Smith appeared to swing his elbows to try to get free from Jason Terry, who hit the deck.
Because they called it a flagrant-two, the refs could review it, and they did.
They overturned it, calling it a simple foul.
That's the way the system is supposed to work.
A week ago against Houston, a flagrant-one was called and then reviewed, which cannot be done according to NBA rules.
That led to the Mavericks protesting that loss.
By the way, the ruling on that won't come for a few more days. The Rockets have until Tuesday to give the league their side of the story. Then the league will have five more business days to consider the protest.
Could be after the first before a ruling is given.
