Chauncey Billups didn't play in the Mavericks' 104-96 win at Denver on Sunday night. But he did some talking after the game, both carving up his own team and lavishing the Mavericks with praise.
Here's an excerpt of the point guard's thoughts.
"I thought we fought hard at different parts of the game, but we didn't fight very smart,'' he said. "So much of this game, especially against good teams, is being smart, not making the same mistakes over and over.
"We just didn't do a very good job of that. Like I said, it's all about playing smart and playing the right way. When we don't, it shows. You have a small margin of error when you play against really good teams.
"And Dallas is a really good team.''
Ahh, some respect, it seems.
Billups has always been one of the great stand-up guys in the league. This just confirms it.
