We can say up front that the Eastern conference might still be just as tough as the West if you only look at the top three teams.
Maybe.
But if you go down just a shade below that, it's not even close.
The West, again, is hammering the East. At 23-21, the Miami Heat is fifth in the East.
If they were in the West, they would be 12th.
Amazing.
It's not going to change for a while. The West is getting better top to bottom with former bottom feeders like Memphis, Oklahoma City and the Clippers now legitimate threats to make playoff runs. And the Kings aren't far off from becoming a tough out.
While two or three teams under .500 are going to make the playoffs in the East, two or three over .500 are going to miss them in the West.
Sometimes, life ain't fair.
