Anybody who knows Caron Butler would expect nothing less, but he was great on TNT's late-night interview that was taped earlier in the evening and shown after the second game of the network's double-header.
Butler didn't have a discouraging word to say about the NBA banning his chewing of straws during the game. And most of his interview was steered toward how he and his fellow former Wizards Brendan Haywood and DeShawn Stevenson have been able to help the Mavericks.
Butler said he was thrilled "with the opportunity to compete for a title. All the stuff preparing for this opportunity is a great feeling. I can't even describe it.''
Butler added that he sent a letter to the Washington Post thanking them for the time he spent in Washington. "The organization was always good to me, so I felt I owed it to the city to reach out,'' he said.
As always, locals don't get a lot out of the national TNT interview. But Butlere handled himself great.
And even Charles Barkley said: "The Mavs needed toughness and y'all brought three tough guys in.''
