The Mavericks' own Dirk Nowitzki, San Antonio Silver Stars' Becky Hammon and Kenny Smith of TNT fame (and formerly of the Houston Rockets, among other teams) won the Shooting Stars contest here just a few minutes ago, beating the Los Angeles team of Brett Barry, Pao Gasol and Marie Ferdinand-Harris.
Each team member had to shoot a jumper, then a 3-pointer and just one representative had to land a half-court shot. In the second round, Team Texas did it in 34.3 seconds. Who hit that half-court shot? Well, Kenny Smith in the first round. But the winner in the second round belonged to Dirk.
L.A. finished their second-round shots in 55.2 seconds, much to the chagrin of The Governator, who is in attendance.
