DeShawn Stevenson would definitely be included in any swap that would bring Washington's Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood to the Mavericks.
That means the Mavericks would have to give up Josh Howard and another significant salary, perhaps Drew Gooden's, along with some lower-end players such as Quinton Ross and/or James Singleton. With Roddy Beaubois' emergence lately, it's also possible J.J. Barea could be involved.
To make it happen, the Mavericks will have to put together contracts that equal at least $15 million. Butler, Haywood and Stevenson have combined salaries of just over $19.5 million.
To satisfy NBA trade rules, the salaries exchanged must be within 125 percent of each other.
