J.J. Barea said a few minutes ago that his sore left ankle is much improved after getting Monday's game off.
"It feels a lot better,'' he said. "I just hope it feels OK after I get out and play on it.''
Barea is hoping to get the ankle as close to 100 percent as possible in time for the playoffs. He'll get a nice test for it tonight and Thursday with back-to-back games.
"It's still sore,'' coach Rick Carlisle said. "He probably could have played (Monday). But we don't want anything lingering for anybody right now if we can avoid it. So we decided to sit him.''
In addition to Barea playing, Caron Butler also will suit up. He missed shootaround with stomach problems that have been making the rounds on the team.
"A few of the players have had it and a few of the coaches have had it, too,'' Carlisle said. "It's been an unwelcome friend.''
