You gotta love it when golf weaves its way into the pregame news conference.
Had a chance to ask coach Rick Carlisle if he was a fan of closing the season with seven of the last nine opponents being above .500 and whether he thought it would get the Mavericks battle-hardened going into the playoffs.
"It's kind of like Gary Player use to say,'' Carlisle said. "My favorite kind of greens are whatever I'm playing on today. If we're playing on Bermuda today, that's my favorite kind of greens to putt on. If we're playing on bent-grass, that's my favorite.
"This is what we got. So this is what's best for us. It's not going to be easy, by any stretch. But it's a great challenge. We look forward to it.''
Right now, nothing really matters but tonight. But the closing schedule should put the Mavericks in a playoff-ready mode.
