Rick Carlisle could have put Erick Dampier in for the final six or eight minutes of garbage time on Tuesday night in the Game 5 rout, but elected not to put the veteran center in that position.
"By the time late in the game, with veteran guys in those situations, I have too much respect to put him back in, unless he wants to,'' Carlisle said. "So I thought this was the right way to go.''
Dampier was fine with the decision, saying afterward that he'd been through lineup changes before and he would be patient with it.
He added that it was the first time he could remember a healthy DNP-CD in the playoffs.
"We won, so I'll sit the next one too (if I have to for a win),'' he said.
