Haywood deal on the verge

The Mavericks may be close to announcing a five-year
contract with center Brendan Haywood. A team official said it was on the 1-inch
line.
 
Terms were not immediately available but Yahoo Sports placed
it at five years for $55 million.
 
For the Mavericks, that’s a huge commitment and also
is a clear sign that Jermaine O’Neal will not be joining the team.
