The Mavericks and 6-11 center Ian Mahinmi have agreed to
terms on a two-year contract, apparently for the veteran’s minimum of about
$900,000.
The feeling among the Mavericks is that Mahinmi is a good
offensive center who needs work at the defensive end, but can be an energy sort
of player off the bench.
“Chalk this one up to Roddy (Beaubois),’’
owner Mark Cuban said. “They are great friends.’’
The two will play together on the French national team at
the World Championships in August.
The Mavericks also were interested in Miami’s Udonis
Haslem, but the hard-working forward has told the Heat that he is staying with
them at a lesser salary to play with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
