I know few of you who read this blog will know the name, but
longtime Detroit Pistons public-relations executive Matt Dobek died over the
weekend and there was nobody who did the job better than he did. He walked the
line between serving the media but always keeping the franchise’s best
interests at heart. He knew how to gain trust from media members, which in turn
helped get some benefit of the doubt for the franchise. And he also knew how to
make sure the Pistons were represented in the best possible light – all
without sounding like the company mouthpiece.
He was 51 years old, same age as me. And for more than 20
years, he was a good friend.

Yeah, that's why the NBA exists--to glorify low-level PR flacks.
Never heard of him.
Play on.
