Roddy Beaubois came out of the locker room at SMU’s
Crum Basketball Center without a hint of a limp.
“I’m feeling way better,’’ he said.
That’s the good news, although there’s still no
timetable for Beaubois to get into action during training camp. For now, he’s
still doing non-impact work such as riding the stationary bicycle or shooting
free throws or similar drills that put no stress on his surgically repaired
left foot.
The Mavericks plan on having a scrimmage tonight, which
likely will be the last workout that is part of two-a-days. Only one workout is
scheduled daily through the rest of camp, although coach Rick Carlisle said he
reserves the right to alter that if he feels like things don’t seem right
(he did not put it that delicately, by the way).
As for Beaubois, Carlisle said: “He’s doing some
underwater treadmill stuff and improving daily. We’ll see how it goes
from here.’’
