DALLAS _ The SportsBusiness Journal released its list of The 50 Most Influential People in Sports Business for 2010, and somehow Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban didn't make the cut.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was listed No. 10 on the list. Even University of Texas men's athletic director DeLoss Dodds made the list at No. 42.
In fact, the only NBA owner who made the list was Washington Wizards owner Ted Leonsis, who is listed at No. 37 and who also owns the NHL's Washington Capitals.
Asked before Monday's game against Milwaukee about not making the list, Cuban said: "I don't care. Have I been on the list before? Whatever.''
Mavericks forward Brian Cardinal looked around at the flat screen TV's in every player's locker, plush robes and other fancy amenities Cuban affords his players and wonders how he was left off the list.
"I'd love to see what the requirements were to make that list,'' Cardinal said. "I think (Cuban) set a tremendous bar for other owners here in the NBA, and not just in the NBA, but throughout professional sports.
"I think a lot of people are trying to strive to be like him, because he's hands-on, he supplies his players with the absolute best of everything, and the opportunity to win every night. It's unfortunate that he's not on that list, but one thing I've come to understand about Mark is he's going to give it his best and put the best product out there, and essentially that's what players and fans want.''
