The men and women of the armed forces will be treated to
a big New Year’s Eve celebration tonight, courtesy of Donnie Nelson, the
Mavericks and the Texas Legends D-League team.
Starting at 3 p.m. on the Mavericks’ practice court
inside American Airlines Center, a few hundred of North Texas’ finest men
and women of the armed forces will join players, coaches and staff of both the
Legends and Mavericks for a fun afternoon of shooting hoops.
Following the shoot-around, the party will move to the
Gilley’s/Palladium complex to continue the bash. Local country music
performers Wade Bowen and Josh Abbott will be on hand to provide great tunes
for the one of a kind occasion.
“We just wanted a way to follow up on the
seats-for-soldiers night and give our military a great thank-you,’’
It’s more than just a thank-you to the soldiers, all
of whom will get in free at Gilley’s with military ID. The Legends and
Mavericks will donate all proceeds to Mark Cuban’s Fallen Patriot Fund.
