DALLAS _ The Dallas Mavericks made a brief run at Atlanta Hawks shooting guard Joe Johnson when he became a free agent last summer.
But Johnson eventually chose to remain with the Hawks after signing a six-year, $120 million contract.
"We did discuss it with them real briefly, just to touch base because you never know,'' owner Mark Cuban said. "He's a great player in a great city.
"He’s the big tuna down there (in Atlanta). There’s a lot of reasons to stay.''
