Dirk Nowitzki is always in demand when the Mavericks hit the
road. He had to do English and German interviews after today’s
shootaround.
What he said in German, we have no idea, although he said it
was mostly about the collective-bargaining situation.
What he said in English was that the Mavericks have him
feeling pretty good about life right now as they get ready to start a
three-game road trip tonight against the Wizards. He’s especially
encouraged by Roddy Beaubois and Peja Stojakovic.
“Peja’s finding his stroke again,’’
Nowitzki said. “Roddy’s getting his legs under him. I like the look
of our team. We’re deep. We’re veteran. Inside we got Tyson and
Haywood, who are really active. I like where we’re at.’’
Nowitzki added that the Mavericks’ recent propensity for
getting at least six or seven players in double figures each game is
attributable to one person – Jason Kidd.
“It starts with us being an unselfish team,’’
he said. “And that starts with Kidd. We feel we’re very deep and
very good. We don’t have to settle for bad shots.’’
