The Blazers gave the Mavericks plenty of chances in the final six minutes, but missed free throws (five in the final six minutes) and poor offensive execution doomed Dallas in Game 3. Portland took the 97-92 win. The Mavs lead the series 2-1, with Game 4 coming Saturday afternoon in Portland. The Mavericks also missed out on what appeared to be a three-point goal by Jason Kidd with 12 seconds remaining, but the 2-point ruling was not reversed on review.
Jason Terry led all scorers with 29 points, while Dirk Nowitzki had 25. Portland had four players score in double-figures, led by Wesley Matthews with 25 points.
