The Mavericks don’t plan on making any changes in
their attitude or their approach going into Game 2 just because Danny Crawford
is one of the referees tonight.
“It makes no difference to me,’’ Jason
Terry said. “He’s a good ref, period. We’re way beyond that
(worrying about who the refs are). That’s petty.’’
The Mavericks have a deplorable record in games that
Crawford has reffed during the playoffs the last half-dozen years (2-16).
“I don’t consider that a factor,’’
coach Rick Carlisle said. “It would be pretty defeatist if we did.
He’s a great official. History shows that.’’
Will he mention it to his players that no matter who the
referees are, they have to rise above any controversy?
“It should go without saying, but if needed, I would
address it,’’ he said. “But I don’t think we need
to.’’
Portland coach Nate McMillan had a similar reaction when
asked if he would talk to his players about the referees.
“No, because the officials do a good
job,’’ he said. “I respect them. We don’t go out and
inform our players on who the officials are.’’
