DALLAS _ Just two days after Dallas won its first NBA championship, Mavericks guard DeShawn Stevenson was arrested Tuesday night in Irving for public intoxication.
According to Irving police, Stevenson was walking and incoherent in the area of the Grand Venetian apartments near the 6200 block of Love Drive about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police were called, and when officers arrived and checked on Stevenson, he didn’t know where he was, according to police.
After field sobriety tests and Stevenson's statements to officers, he was arrested without incident and later released on a $475 bond at approximately 5:30 this morning.
Stevenson played a major role in the Mavs winning the NBA title this past Sunday. Acquired last year from the Washingotn Wizards, Stevenson was in and out of the staring lineup and was an effective defender and spotty perimeter shooter.
In the playoffs, Stevenson averaged 4.5 points and shot 34.9 percent from the field and 39.7 percent from three-point land.

Man if I had seen him--I would have asked for his autograph and driven him home :) . All he did was drink and walk and not drink and drive...

That's Irving pd for ya, you just have to look like you have a few bucks and they'll find a reason to get you on something.
