DALLAS _ Former Dallas Mavericks All-Star forward Mark Aguirre believes everyone from the NBA players to the owners have damaged the NBA brand with the 149-day lockout.
He also believes both parties are going to have to go to some extraordinary lengths in order to win back the fans.
“It's going to hurt the players and it's going to hurt the owners, because that [NBA] machine was running real nice," said Aguirre, who played in the NBA from 1981-‘94. “Now you've got to go back and re-create all the good that you had -- meaning the season-ticket holders, the fans -- because you lost some.
“A lot of people are going to think about spending their dollars in other ways."
