DALLAS _ As a treat for winning the NBA title last season, the Dallas Mavericks will visit the White House and meet President Barack Obama next Monday.
"It's a nice reward,'' owner Mark Cuban said. "It's part of the deal.''
Cuban said Mavs president Terdema Ussery had to make the calls to the White and make the trip happen, since the Mavs are not slated to play at the Washington Wizards this season. Asked if he thought the NBA forgot about the annual ceremony at the White House that goes to the defending NBA champions, Cuban asked: "How can you be that stupid?
"Even with the lockout schedule, it's not that hard. All you have to do is when you're putting in the scheduling software, say Dallas at Washington. They managed to get Miami in Dallas and all the games set on certain days.''
The Mavs host New Orleans on Saturday, then won't play again until Tuesday in Detroit. Thus, came the opportunity to make the trip to Washington, DC.

How idiotic on Mark Cuban's part.
Aside the fact that several teams in the past visited the White House even if they were not scheduled to play in Washington on that particular day, week or even month, someone should explain to Cuban that even if the Mavs were scheduled to play in Washington it would have not meant that the President was going to be available or even in town on that particular day.
So complaining about the league not scheduling a game in Washington is idiotic.
