SAN ANTONIO -- Watching the San Antonio Spurs play sometimes can be like going to a coaching clinic.
For the most part, things flow so freely, and they make it all look so easy. Maybe that’s why the Spurs won four NBA titles during a nine-year span from 1999-2007.
“The thing that’s really is the indefinable difference in San Antonio between other teams is they’re so tied together,’’ coach Rick Carlisle said. “They get to what I call concentration points -- the simple basket, cut off a post feed.
“They execute those fundamentals so well, and if they hit you with six or 10 of those points on a given night, regardless of which star players are playing or not playing, they’re going to have a lot better chance to beat you. So your level of constant concentration against them has got to be extremely high.’’
Right now, the Mavs’ concentration isn’t too high. They trial the Spurs, 46-23 with 3:40 left in the second period.
