AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- It was one of those plays that will be on the Dallas Mavericks’ DVD when this season is over.
And it all happened Tuesday night at The Palace of Auburn Hills in a flash.
Midway through the fourth quarter during a 100-86 win over the Detroit Pistons, guard Jason Terry was on the left side of the floor. And just by chance, Terry tossed an underhanded pass to center Brandan Wright, who quickly soared through a crowd of three Pistons, snared the ball and jammed it home with a vengeance that gave the Mavs an 88-61 lead.
The players on the Mavs' bench leapt and cheered with approval. And surely, the suits at ESPN used that incredible dunk by Wright as one of its Top 10 plays of the night, didn’t they?
“I just ran the floor,’’ said Wright, who scored nine points in eight minutes. “Every time I get in the game with Jet he always say, “I’m going to look for you, man I’m going to look for you. You run the floor and I’m going to get it to you.’
“He just tossed it up and I just made a play on the ball. I was flying down the court. I didn’t even see the replay myself. It was a good play. I’m glad he hit me, and it felt good.’’
