DALLAS -- Shawn Marion will miss his third consecutive game tonight when the Dallas Mavericks host the Los Angeles Lakers.
Marion is suffering from a sore left knee that has been bothering him for some time. His absence tonight means he won't get the opportunity to face Laker superstar Kobe Bryant, who is just 11-of-37 from the field with 29 points in the two previous games against this season.
"They're making me sit out,'' Marion said of the Mavs' medical staff. "It's not so much as playing against Kobe.
"It's just going out there and fighting with my team. Other than that, it is what it is.''
Marion hopes to be back in time for Friday's game in San Antonio.
"I'll go hard tonight and go hard again tomorrow,'' Marion said, "and hopefully be feeling good on Friday and be good to go.''
