CHICAGO -- The Dallas Mavericks have one regular season game remaining after losing, 93-83, to the Chicago Bulls at the United Center on Saturday.
Dirk Noiwtzki led the Mavs with 17 points and seven rebound sin 33 minutes, Rodrigue Beaubois scored 16, Vince Carter had 15 and Delonte West added 13. The Mavs played without Jason Kidd and Jason Terry, who were given the night off.
The game looked like it was going to be a runaway after the Bulls led 21-8 after the first period. The eight points were the fewest points scored in the first quarter in Mavs' history.
But just when everyone was about the defending world champs out, they came storming back and only trailed 44-38 at the half after punching in 30 second-quarter points.
The Mavs (36-39) took their only lead of the game (56-55) on a jumper by West with 2:58 to go in the third period. The Bulls then needed some torrid shooting by Kyle Korver (11 points) and Luol Deng (22 points) to put away the Mavs.
