OKLAHOMA CITY --- Dallas Mavericks guard Delonte West isn't going to let an upset stomach prevent him from playing in the playoffs.
West missed shoot around this morning and stayed in bed to rest up for Game 1 of the opening round of the playoffs against the Oklahoma City Thunder, which starts at 8:30 tonight. West believes 12 raw oysters he ate Thursday night didn't exactly agree with his stomach and left him vomiting.
But he was getting his ankles taped, as usual, and eating a sandwich a few minutes ago while mentally getting prepared to battle the Thinder.
''I''m not missing a playoff game,'' West said. "You're going to have to drag me off the floor.''
West received an IV, adding that the extra fluids gave him some additional strength.
"I just rested all day. . .got some fluids going,'' West said. "I've got a slight headache, but not anything that's going to keep me from playing.''
One of West's real important jobs tonight is to try and contain Thunder All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook. It's an assignment West isn't all that worried about.
"Everybody in this league tie their shoes up just like me,'' West said. "They've got an important defensive role tonight.
"He's a great player in this league and it's going to take more than one guy to slow down that guy. We're going to do it as a team effort -- and we're up to the challenge.''
