DALLAS -- As center Chris Kaman blew by reporters Sunday and up the stairs adjacent to the Dallas Mavericks' practice court, he gave a brief update on his lower back, which he sprained during the first day of training camp on Saturday.
"I'm doing good,'' Kaman said as he sprinted off to receive treatment on his ailing back. "Progressing slowly each day.''
Signed to a one-year, $8 million contract by the Mavs this past summer, Kaman did some work on the bicycle Sunday and also performed other light workout duties at American Airlines Center. His injury, however, isn't anything the Mavs are overly concerned about.
"He's doing better,'' coach Rick Carlisle said. "I don't have a timetable for when he's going to be back practicing, but he's moving around and he's making progress.''
