DALLAS -- Shawn Marion tallied 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead a balanced attack and pace the Dallas Mavericks to a 99-82 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats on Friday night at American Airlines Center.
Also for the Mavs, OJ Mayo nearly had a triple-double as he finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. In addition, the Mavs got 12 points and six assists from Darren Collison, 11 points from Jae Crowder, and 10 points from Vince Carter.
The newest member of the Mavs, center Eddy Curry, played 26 minutes and collected 11 points, seven rebounds and three blocks while converting 4-of-8 shots
The Mavs finished preseason play with a 4-4 record and will open the regular season Tuesday in Los Angeles against the powerful Lakerss.
Dallas led by as much as 20 points (63-43) less than a minute into the third period. But the scrappy Bobcats got within 85-82 with 3:42 left before the Mavs scored the game's final 14 points.
