DALLAS -- A day after acquiring center/forward Melvin Ely and forward Chris Douglas-Roberts, the Dallas Mavericks released both players.
Those transactions trimmed the Mavs' roster back down to 16 players -- one over the NBA limit. The Mavs have until Monday to get their roster down to 15.
It is expected that the Mavs will release or trade guard Delonte West, who was suspended indefnitely on Thursday by Dallas for conduct detrimental to the team.
The Mavs didn't practice Saturday, but both Ely and Douglas-Roberts were able to do some individual workouts for the Mavs on Saturday. Apparently, they didn't show the Mavs what they were looking for.
